Due to the Junteenth Day holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Friday, June 18, 2021, will be made on Monday, June 21, 2021. The normal collection scheduled for Monday, June 21, 2021, will be made on that day.
The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty on Friday, June 18, 2021, due to the Juneteenth Day holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.
The Town of Wytheville reminds property owners of the requirement to cut grass, weeds, vegetation or other foreign growth up to 100 feet from their structures at least three (3) times per year—once before May 15, once before July 15, and once before September 15, or whenever it reaches a maximum height of twelve (12) inches. Grass, weeds, vegetation or other foreign growth over 100 feet from structures and undeveloped lots shall be mowed twice per year—once before May 15 and once before August 15. Property in A-1 Agriculture Zones, not within 100 feet of structure(s), that requires a maximum growth of 12 inches, shall control the grass, weeds, vegetation or other foreign growth by mowing at least once between May 15 and September 15. Property located within 100 feet of the right of way of an entrance corridor shall mow all grass, weeds, vegetation or other foreign growth monthly between April 1 through September 30, or when reaching a maximum height of 12 inches. Entrance corridors are identified in the Town Code.
Property not mowed appropriately shall be mowed by Town personnel after reasonable notice has been given by publication in local newspaper or on water bills, and, within 15 days, the Town will mow the property, and the costs will be charged, assessed and collected from the owners in the manner of taxes and levies at a rate prescribed by the Town Council.
The Town would like to remind citizens that it is unlawful to dispose of grass, etc. onto the sidewalks and streets of the town.
