The Town of Wytheville will accept applications for permits to hunt on Town-owned land on Sand Mountain. Applicants must be Wythe County residents.  Applications are only available on the Town’s webpage through the OpenGov online permitting system at www.wytheville.org. The application fee is $25. The Town issues a maximum number of 50 hunting permits each year. When the number of applicants exceeds 50, the permittees will be chosen by lottery. The deadline for submittal of an application is 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024. Permits will be issued as soon thereafter as practical. The Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, will hold a public hearing on the proposed issuance of a bond by the Town of Wytheville. The estimated maximum amount of the bond is $800,000. The proposed use of the bond proceeds is to pay the costs of capital improvements to the Town’s wastewater facilities. The public hearing which may be continued or adjourned, and at which persons may appear and present their views on the proposed bond issue, will be held at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on Monday, July 22, 2024, before the Council in the Council Chambers, Wytheville Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia.
