Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, to consider appropriations to the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget in order to amend departmental budgets due to unexpected expenditures during the fiscal year.
The proposed budget amendments can be viewed at the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for legal holidays. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting to express their views or submit comments by regular mail, telephone at (276) 223-3333 or email at angelap@wytheville.org. Individuals desiring to attend the meeting and requiring special accommodations are requested to contact the Municipal Office at least two days prior to the meeting by calling (276) 223-3349.
The Town of Wytheville will accept applications for permits to hunt on Town-owned land on Sand Mountain. Applicants must be Wythe County residents. Applications are only available on the Town’s webpage through the OpenGov online permitting system at www.wytheville.org. The application fee is $25. The Town issues a maximum number of 50 hunting permits each year. When the number of applicants exceeds 50, the permittees will be chosen by lottery. The deadline for submittal of an application is 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2025. Permits will be issued as soon thereafter as practical. The Town of Wytheville currently has vacancies on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Wytheville Economic Development Authority, the Tree Advisory Committee, and the Recreation Commission for a youth member. Certain Committee/Board/Authority appointments require financial or real estate disclosures and customized trainings provided by the Town. Any Town of Wytheville citizen desiring to serve on a Town Committee/Board/Authority should apply on the Town website (www.wytheville.org) through the OpenGov portal, https://wythevilleva.viewpointcloud.com/. The Town Council is currently taking applications for a vacancy on the Joint Industrial Development Authority. The due date for all applications is Monday, June 16.

Due to the Juneteenth holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Thursday, June 19, 2025, will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025. The normal collection scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025, will be held on that day.
The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty on Thursday, June 19, 2025, due to the Juneteenth holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Friday, June 20, 2025. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.
