Notice of Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Planning Commission of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, to consider the request of Michael Waller for a Special Exception Permit to allow a homestay use for property located at 1340 West Main Street (Better Way Building), Tax Parcel 41A-7-44-7B, in an M-1 Industrial Zoning District and to approve a deviation to the required parking regulations located on the parcel identified as Tax Parcel 41A-7-44-14B.
The request can be viewed at the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for legal holidays. Town of Wytheville Mowing Regulations
The Town of Wytheville would like to remind property owners of their obligation to the Town’s Mowing Ordinance in the Town Code: Chapter 12. Solid Waste Collection and Disposal, Article VI. Nuisances on Premises, Removal of Weeds, Mowing, Etc., and Clutter, Division 2. Removal of Weeds, Mowing, Etc.
The ordinance was amended to remove the language of only having to mow three (3) times per season beginning April 1 through September 30, and, in Chapter 12. Section 12-92, of the Town Code states, “It shall be unlawful for the owners of property to permit grass, weeds and other foreign growth to exceed the prescribed height of 12 inches, except: (1) if a property is located in an A-1 Agricultural Zone that has been set aside for agricultural operations as defined in Chapter 12. Section 12-76 and used for the production of hay, feed crops or similar agricultural uses; (2) if a property owner has applied and been approved for a mowing exemption as outlined in Chapter 12. Section 12-94; or, (3) if a property owner has applied and been approved for using the property for nontraditional landscaping purposes as defined in Section 12-93.” The Code of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, is available online for viewing at https://library.municode.com/va/wytheville.
The Town would like to remind citizens that it is unlawful to dispose of grass and other vegetative debris on the sidewalks and streets of the town. The Town of Wytheville appreciates the efforts of its citizens in maintaining yards and outdoor spaces.

Due to the Good Friday holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Friday, April 18, 2025, will be made on Monday, April 21, 2025. The normal collection scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025, will be made on that day.
The Town of Wytheville Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty on Friday, April 18, 2025, due to the Good Friday holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Monday, April 21, 2025. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.

BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED FOR AFFECTED AREAS
After conducting thorough testing of the water in the affected areas (Peppers Ferry Road: East of 1705 Peppers Ferry Road – Granite Christian Academy to 3206 Peppers Ferry Road; and, East Lee Trinkle Drive: 343 East Lee Trinkle Drive) during the water outage, the Town of Wytheville’s Water Treatment Plant has been able to confirm that there is no hazard or contamination present. These results allow for the Boil Water Notice to be lifted effective immediately, and the regular use and consumption of water to resume as normal. Thank you for your understanding throughout this event.

Renewal Notices for 2025 Business Licenses have been sent out. Licenses are due by May 1, 2025. You can go to the following website to access the application: https://www.wytheville.org/business
The application can be emailed to treasurer@wytheville.org, if needed. If you are out of business, please email us and let us know the date that the business closed, so we can make you inactive.
Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes were due March 5, 2025. A 10% Penalty was assessed on March 6, 2025, and interest will begin on April 1, 2025. Delinquent notices will be mailed out before any additional collection measures are taken.

Underbrush Clearing - Crystal Springs
AEP will begin clearing underbrush along the Powerline Trail at Crystal Springs on March 12th, 2025. The trails will remain open during this. In early April heavy equipment may be used to clear brush and the park will close during that time. We will update this information and social media information as actual dates become available.

The Town of Wytheville’s Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Rehabilitation Project is beginning. Citizens can expect to see an increase in utility marks in and around property lines, road rights-of-way, alleyways and through existing utility easements. Citizens may also see large trucks and equipment performing inspections, cleaning and making repairs in these areas over the next six (6) to seven (7) months.
